In our latest blog post we talked about the cosmetic trends seen on the catwalks for Spring/Summer 2016.
In this post we’re going to talk about some of the products we stock that can help you achieve some of those looks ensuring you’re absolutely on trend when the warmer months roll around!
Fresh Faced & Freckled
On the catwalks skin was either completely free of foundation, or had just the sheerest coverage. If you can’t skip foundation, try a light to medium coverage product with a dewy finish such as the Illuminaire Fantastic Finish Moisturising Foundation which will help you get your glow, while giving you some valuable SPF. If you want to embrace the trends then you can follow the lead of the Emmanuel Ungara models and draw on freckles with a soft brown pencil, try Neve Cosmetics Pastello Eye Liner Pencil in Chinchilla.
Blusher looks varied from none at all to natural flush, to strong coral. For a natural flush, try the Milani Rose Blush in American Beauty or if you’re going for bold, coral cheeks, try the Ben Nye Crème Blush Wheel.
Eyes for Spring/Summer 2016 are all about colour. With several key looks being seen on the catwalks. Bold, graphic colour was everywhere, neons, reds, blues, turquoises and even yellows featured. In rich single colour applications. The Sugarpill single Pressed Eye shadows cater for all of these. Try Velocity, a bright royal Blue, or Midori, a vibrant green, to get the look. Greens and blues also featured on the Holly Fulton and Alexis Mabille catwalks, but worn in a softer, 1970’s style. Again, Sugarpill have the products you need, try the Loose Eye shadow pigments in Mint Soda and Hug Life. Glitter was seen in a variety of blue hues and worn both as eyes hadow and as eye liner. Look no further than Violet Voss who have a wonderful selection of blues and teals, and don’t forget your Glitter Adhesive! Dior and Lanvin models wore a softer, subtler look. Pink eye shadow worn, alone, with mascara, created soft, pretty spring looks. The Sigma Fall Softly Palette contains 12 beautiful shades, many of which are pink. It has everything you need for a soft Spring Look. Finally, lashes were big news. Obviously false lashes were worn in a variety of styles and mascara was worn heavily to create doll like effects. We stock a wide variety of False Lashes, from brands such as Sugarpill and Ardell. Be as bold as you dare.
There were three key lip looks on the catwalk. The first was no make up at all. The second look was a natural, pretty pink pout. Try Gerard Cosmetics Lipstick in Vintage Rose. The final look was a vivid red, glossy lip. Look no further than Daniel Sandler’s Luxury Lip Gloss in Vivid Desire. A moisturising, soothing, vibrant red gloss. For extra oomph apply over a red lipstick such as the Milani Matte Moisture Lipstick in Iconic. And there you have it, we are delighted that 2016 will bring a return to vibrancy. There’s always a place in our heart for the classic smokey eye, but we love to see a splash of colour from time to time!
