Spring/Summer 2014 Trends

Traditionally now’s about the time start looking forward to see what’s on the cards, beauty wise, for Spring/Summer 2014.

So let’s have a look at the cosmetic trends on the catwalks for Spring/Summer 2014 collections.

These are the looks that will filter down to the high streets next year, although in some cases the more avant garde looks will be subtler for us mere mortals.

Valentino: Flawless Skin, Groomed Brows and curled lashes. With everything else kept to a bare minimum. This was taken a step further on the Giambattista Valli and Lanvin catwalks where the look was enhanced by clever contouring.

Stella McCartney: Again, the look here was subtle, with everything kept looking flawless and natural, but with the addition of feline flick eyeliner.

Missoni: Here again we saw the natural skin, barely made up look, but with the addition of graphic black liner along the upper lashes.

Chanel: bright colours!

Christian Dior: If you’re a lover of gold then Dior are the ones to watch. The model’s all had metallic brows with lashings of gold under the eyes and on the eyelids. Some of the models sported a coloured liner over their gold shadow, in aquamarine or yellow.

Dries Van Noten: The gold trend was also picked up by Dries Van Noten models who had gold lashes with pale gold eyeshadow.

Dolce and Gabbana: The look on the Dolce & Gabbana was all about luminosity. Skin was glowing with lashings of bronzer, with a hint of colour on the lips.

Roberto Cavalli: The Cavalli models were wearing a combination of most of the above. Contouring again was present, skin flawless and simple finished with a subtle black liner.

Gucci: For the Gucci look, think bronze goddess, lashings of gold and bronze on the eyes, with contoured, highlighted cheeks.

Donna Karan: Again, the key look here was bronzed eyes, lashings of bronzer and a glossy orange lip. With the exception of Chanel who had crazy amounts of colours on and around the eyes, there are two key trends emerging. Bronzed and glowing and pared back and natural, with a twist. Both the looks are simple to achieve at home.

To create your Spring/Summer Pared Back look, create your flawless base using your favourite foundations, concealers and powders and then pick which twist you wish to add, whether it’s the feline flicks, or the tinted lips or the contouring. To create perfect feline Flicks, try the eye of Horus Liquid Define Eye Liner which delivers a sharp, precise line that will last all day. If you choose to contour, choose a (shimmer free) bronzer or a darker face powder and use a contour brush, something like the Adesign Finishing Brush, to apply your product just under your cheek bones. If you decide to go for the bronzed eye shadow looks, try blending several shimmering metallic shades together for a luxurious Summer look. The Eye of Horus Isis Sun Goddess Eye Shadow Palette is perfect.
