Spring Make Up

Spring Make Up

The crocuses and daffodils are slowly pushing up through the frozen earth and some days the sun is even shining, here at Cocktail Cosmetics it certainly feels like Spring.

It maybe a little premature, but here are our suggestions to bring a touch of Spring to your make up.

Moving into warmer weather can mean lighter, dewier finishes are more suitable for our base products and we’d suggest priming with Neve’s Brightening BioPrimer (£9.50) before opting for a dewy finish foundation, or tinted moisturiser.Daniel Sandler’s Invisible Radiance Foundation is ideal, and also includes a concealer cleverly hidden in the lid, but if a powder mineral foundation is your preference, try opting for something like Everyday Minerals Jojoba Base (£10.95), which has a lightweight satin finish. Finish with your concealer, and the lightest dusting of powder if necessary, but only sweep it on areas that really need setting, you want to try and keep the light, fresh look on your skin.

If you have one, a cream highlight would be fantastic for this look. Powder Highlighters can sometimes be heavy on the glitter or the shimmer, we are just looking to add some glow, dot and blend your highlighter to your cheekbones, Glo Minerals gloHighlighter (£12.00) is ideal.

When it comes to blusher there are so many pretty Spring shades to choose for, but a coral such as Milani’s Luminoso Baked Blush (£5.00) or a pretty pink like Lily Lolo Mineral Blush in Candy Girl (£7.29) would be ideal. Apply sparingly to the apples of the cheeks.

Bronzer should be applied sparingly. Try Everyday Minerals Face Bronzer in Soft Bronzer which as the name suggests, is a subtle bronzer, imparting a light glow, rather than a high-Summer bronze.

For a Spring look, heavy eye make is a no-no, keep things simple with a soft neutral eye. Try shades from either the Sigma Fall Softly Eye Shadow Palette (£29.95) or the NYX Cosmetics Natural Shadow Palette (£8.00). Add liner to your top lash line, gel or pencil, whichever you are most comfortable with, black or brown is fine. For an extra touch of Spring you can add a paste shade liner to your bottom lash line, something like NYX Cosmetics Slide on Eye Pencil in Green Papaya (£7.50) or Neve Cosmetics Pastello Eye Liner Pencil in Lilac (£3.95). This will add a real pop of colour to your Spring look, but it is of course optional.

Finally, you want to keep the lips soft and pretty, to remain in keeping with the rest of the look. Opt either for a pink or neutral lipstick, or a sheer gloss. Our favourite Spring shades are Gerard Cosmetics Sugar Mama Lighted Lipgloss (£14.95) and Lily Lolo Natural Lip Gloss in Peachy Keen (£7.29) for lipglosses, or for lipsticks try Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Lip Tar in Divine, Milani Color Statement Lipstick in Nude Crème (£5) or Neve Cosmetics Dessert A Levres lipstick in Pink Donut (£9.95).
