Spot Light on Sugarpill

Sugarpill Cosmetics are a cult indie brand for those who are not afraid to experiment with colour.

The brand have two main focuses, colour and lots of it and a passion for all things cruelty free. The brainchild of Amy Doan, more commonly known online as Shrinkle, Sugarpill was founded in 2005 and after several years of testing, researching and developing the collection was launched on Valentines Day 2010. The brand was received exceptionally well and top beauty blogger Temptalia named Sugarpill the “#1 Indie Brand for 2010”.

Since then the brand has gone from strength to strength, is retailed around the world and was even chosen as the official makeup brand for Sanrio’s Hello Kitty 35th Anniversary. Amy is extremely active on social media and has a large fan base with whom she regularly interacts and this loyalty to her customers and fans no doubt pays dividends when it comes to her business. As does the clear passion for all things cruelty free. It’s not just a clever marketing ploy, Sugarpill staff are all vegetarians/vegans who shun wearing fur and purchasing cosmetics from brands who do test on animals. Their whole ethos is to show that buying cruelty free can be fun, inspiring and easy.

The brands products, at the current time, are primarily eye focused. Chromalust Eye Shadows are sparkling loose eye shadow pigments which really deliver the wow factor. Available in 18 shades these are best used over a primer. The ElektroCute Neon Pigments are super bright neon loose shadows for putting anywhere your imagination take you. The shades Love Buzz and Supercharge even glow under UV light. Again, these need a primer under them for best effect. All are lip safe, with the exception of Hellatronic.

The Pressed Eye Shadows are top sellers and it’s easy to see why. In a dazzling range of colours from true red through to jet black with every colour of the rainbow in between these are highly pigmented and an affordable way to experiment with colour. Also available in several palettes of four complementary shades.

Lashes. If you’re looking for natural looking false lashes, Sugarpill is not your brand. If however you are looking for lashes to make a statement then look no further! There are lashes with pearls, lashes with gems, coloured lashes, individual lashes, glittery lashes and many more… of the lashes can be reused if cared for correctly.

The newest addition to Sugarpill’s line are brushes. These beautiful, pink brushes are all vegan and cruelty-free, and made with the highest grade of soft synthetic bristles for smooth application and blending. The range is mostly eye brushes but there is one lip brush, perhaps a hint of new products on the horizon!

This is perhaps not a brand for neutrals lovers, but if you’re not afraid of colour, or you’re keen to start experimenting with colour, Sugarpill is most definitely the place to start!
