While we’re on holiday, most of us tend to opt for a more pared back look for the day time, but we still want to take products with us for glamorous nights out, but there’s also the consideration of luggage too, especially if you’re heading overseas.
The aim should be to take a few versatile products and a couple of show stoppers to transform your look for the evenings. Here are our suggestions for the perfect holiday make up bag.
Concealer – this might be the only product you wear during the day, for any blemishes or dark circles, so concealer would be the must have product for your holiday make up bag.
Tinted Moisturiser – a tinted moisturiser is the ideal product for warm weather. Offering sheer coverage, to even out the skin tone, this is great for a more natural look while on holiday. Something like the Glo Minerals Sheer Tint Base is ideal as it also offers UV protection.
Pressed Powder – pressed powders are a convenient and compact way of carrying about powder products, usually, they even contain a puff for application. This will help set your base or concealer and keep the shine at bay.
Blusher and Bronzer – blusher will always give you a lovely flush of colour, whilst bronzer isn’t strictly essential, but will really enhance a tan. An ideal holiday product is the NYX Bronzer and Blusher Combo which comes in in five colour ways and is a perfect compact containing a shades of blusher and bronzer guaranteed to complement each other.
Lipstick – one or two lipsticks should be enough for your holiday, pick a natural shade if you’re likely to want to wear a lipstick during the day and a bold shade for your nights out!
Eyeshadow Palette – look for an eyeshadow palette that can take you from day to night. Look for something small and compact, but that just enough colours to take you through your holiday. We’d recommend the Daniel Sandler Scandal At Midnight Eye Shadow Quad. Containing several shades, Desire is a lilac grey, which appears to be a taupe shade, ideal for day, but also included in the palette is a glitter shade, a white and a matte black for creating a smoky look for your evening out.
Mascara – mascara is the second product (after concealer) you’re most likely to wear during the day time while on holiday, and if you’re heading to a beach resort, we’d recommend a waterproof mascara to avoid panda eyes after a dip in the sea! Glo Minerals Water Resistant Black Mascara is not only water resistant but is lengthening and volumizing too.
Brushes – Travel brushes are ideal for holidays and the Touch Up Tube from Japonesque holds a foundation brush, a lip brush, two eye brushes and blush/powder brush all in a small tube.
Aside from all of the above you’ll want to think about your skincare and sunscreen and you’ll probably be grateful for a lip balm in your make up bag too.
