Getting ready to go out on a first date with someone you really like can be riddled with problems.
From picking the right outfit to over thinking the course conversation will go in, the last thing you want to worry about is getting your make up right.
If you aim for pretty and natural you’ll not go far wrong. You want to feel good about yourself and not feel like you’ve tried too hard, keeping the make up look simple will help keep touch ups minimal too.
Prime your skin, this will making applying your base easier and help your make up to stay in place longer. Choose your foundation and apply with a great quality brush to give the most flawless finish possible. Be sure to match to your skin tone perfectly and blend blend blend! No one wants a tide mark on the jaw line! Try the Real Techniques Samantha Chapman Foundation Brush which is cruelty free and hand cut.
Use a concealer to disguise any blemishes and dark circles, we’d recommend a lighter finish foundation for dark circles and a heavier coverage for blemishes. The NYX Concealer Wand is brilliant for under eye circles whilst the OCC Skin Concealer is a thicker texture and perfect for blemishes.
Keep your eye make simple, opting for neutral shades. The Neve Cosmetics Elegantissimi Eye Palette is perfect for this. Apply Etoile all over the lid, adding Smoking or Plush to the crease to add some depth. Using a fine brush you can add Espresso or Black Sheep as a liner. Try the Lily Lolo eye Definer brush.
Next you’ll want to add some mascara, black, to define your lashes. The Eye of Horus Goddess Mascara absolutely won’t budge if you’re watching a sad film or walking into the wind… running mascara is not a good look for a first date! At this point you can add some natural false lashes for some extra flutter. The Ardell InvisiBand Lashes are all natural looking but still add some oomph!
Final touches, add a very light dusting of translucent powder to set your base. Then fill in and define your brows with a pencil or powder, we like the Sigma Dual Ended Brow Pencil with two shades of brown, a dark and medium.
Next add a pink blusher for a natural looking flush. There are a wide range of shades available but choose something that is close to the shade you natural turn when blushing. For a powder blush, NYX do a great selection of shades or for something different apply a Daniel Sandler Watercolour Liquid Blush in a shade such as Cherub or So pretty for a perfect pink.
Last but not least decide on your lip colour, again pink is the perfect first date colour and there’s pink shade out there for everything. Don’t opt for a bright shade, instead opt for something like Neve Cosmetics Dessert A Levres Lipstick in Panna Cotta. A perfectly tempting pink with shea butter to make your lips kissably soft!
