Festive Party Make Up

Christmas and New Years Eve do’s are traditionally a time where we really go to town with glamming up.

All out glamour is called for and we’ve got just the products to help you achieve a flawless look that will last the whole night.

Preparation is key, so after you’ve applied your skincare, the next step is to add primers. These will get the best out of your products, ensuring a flawless application, but also, really help them to stay put. The NYX Cosmetics Studio Perfect Primer is perfect for brightening and makes an ideal base for your foundation, while the Lime Crime Candy Eyed Eye Shadow Helper will help your eye shadow stay put on even the oiliest of eyelids as well as intensifying the colours you apply.

Once you’ve primed, apply your foundation and concealer if necessary, then apply a matte bronzer to your face in a figure of eight, starting at your forehead. Everyday Minerals do a range of bronzers, several of which are matte, whilst some add glow without added shimmer.

Add a touch of highlighter to your cheekbones. Try the Sigma Loose Shimmer in either Gilded (for warm skin tones) or Ravishing (for cool skin tones).

Next, fill in your eyebrows, an essential step in any routine, defined brows will frame your face. When it comes to eyes, anything goes for the party season, glitter is entirely acceptable and you’ll find a huge range of shades in the Violet Voss range. If glitter isn’t your thing, the classic smokey eye is perfect. Depending on your budget we’d recommend the brilliant NYX Smokey Eye Shadow Palette (£8) or the more luxurious Scandal at Midnight Palette by Daniel Sandler (£29). Be as subtle or as bold as you dare.

Where you go from there is up to you. You can add glitter, or you could add cat eye flicks using a liquid liner such as the Eye of Horus Liquid Define Eyeliner, or you could add false lashes. You can of course opt for all of the above, or none of the above, but you’ll want to add lashings of mascara.

The festive season is the perfect time to go for it with a red lipstick. Line the lips with a lip liner, and then fill in the whole area with the same liner. The apply your lipstick, blot with a tissue and reapply, this will really extend the wear time. Try Daniel Sandler’s Micro-Bubble Lipstick in Micro Red for an exceptionally moisturising feel, or opt for the cult classic Lime Crime Velvetine in Red Velvet for a rich matte look.

Once you’ve finished your look and you’re happy with it, finish with a setting spray. The Skindinavia Make Up Finishing Spray prevents fading and meltdowns and promised to keep your make up looking fresh for up to 16 hours, all with a weightless ultra-fine mist. Pop your lipstick in your handbag, along with a pressed powder for any touch ups, and go forth and party!
