Here in the UK, Summer can be something of a hit and miss affair but we usually manage a few hot sunny days somewhere along the way. Don’t let a lack of sunshine stop you from being a bronzed goddess if you feel so inclined.
If you’ve been fortunate enough to have been away and have a beautiful tan, you can really make the most of it using make up. We’ve got everything you need to create the look. Keep your base light and dewy if possible.
Use concealer on any blemishes and then opt for light foundation or tinted moisturiser. The Glo Minerals gloSheer Tint Base is a great sheer base, or for a little more coverage but still keeping the dewy finish, try the Illuminare Moisturising Fantastic Finish Foundation.
Add a little brightening concealer to the under eye area. Next, fill in and highlight your brows. We like the NYX Push-Up Bra for Eye Brow, which is the best of both worlds, featuring a pencil to fill in your brows on one end and a highlighter on the other end. For the eyes, choose metallic shades, think bronzes, coppers and golds.
The Lily Lolo Molten Bronze Eye Shadow Quad contains a shimmering peach, antique gold, bronze and a black. Apply and blend. You can use the black sparingly to add some depth to the crease and smoke out the look. You can really intensify the look by adding liner to the waterline and you’d be surprised at the range of colours that work with the bronzed summer look. Black and browns are natural and sultry, but teals and purples are really effective when teamed with bronzes and coppers.
Finish with mascara. For the cheeks, you’ll need a bronzer. A shimmering bronzer, whilst pretty, is mostly only suitable for use for evenings. Your secret weapon to a natural looking tan, is a matte bronzer. Neve Cosmetics Mineral Bronzer in the shade Maldives is perfect. Apply to the hollows of your cheeks, and then lightly dust wherever the sun naturally catches your face. Finish with a light dusting of blusher, anything coral or pink toned, with a hint of bronze is perfect. Try the NYX Cosmetics Bronzer & Blusher Combo in Phi Phi Island, and swirl the two shades together for the perfect Summer flush.
Finally, the lips. This is a really adaptable look so lips can be whatever takes your fancy. Hot corals, reds, hot pinks, or sheer, shimmering glosses. Just choose whatever suits your comfort level or mood. If a nude shimmering gloss takes your fancy, try Daniel Sandler’s Luxury Lip Gloss in Skinny Dip or Lily Lolo’s Natural Lip Gloss in Peachy Keen. If bold and bright is more your thing then try the OCC Lip Tar in Harlot or Lime Crime Candyfuture Lipstick in Countessa Florescent. The key to looking like a bronzed Summer beauty is to keep your base light, heavy foundation is a Summer no no, and of course Bronzer, otherwise, go wild!
