A/W 2014 Trends

It may seem too early to be thinking ahead to the colder months, but as always, it’s what we’re seeing on the catwalks now that will dictate the beauty trends for Autumn/Winter 2014. That’s the products stocked by high end and high street stores and of course Cocktail Cosmetics.

All the early signs are pointing to this being a bad season for lipstick lovers.

Eyes are the focus with lips being completely bare on many of the catwalks. Here’s a rundown of the beauty looks being sported on the runways of some of the biggest fashion houses for Autumn/Winter 2014.

The Jean Paul Gaultier catwalks featured severe eyebrows and ultra black, ultra winged eyeliner flicks.

The Stella McCartney models sported softly defined eyes with the merest hint of lip balm. An extremely natural look.

Chloe models sported soft smokey violet eyes, again with bare lips. Kenzo models were given graphic 50’s inspired flicks in bright cobalt blue, once again teamed with bare lips.

The Lanvin models again, were given a make under but had oversized lashes for huge dramatic impact.

The Dolce & Gabbana look emphasised glowing pink cheeks with delicate black liquid liner.

Fear not lipstick lovers, Prada embraced red lips, and the intention was to make the models look as though it was their first time wearing red lipstick… so fear not red lipstick-phobes, perfect application isn’t crucial.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Suki Waterhouse sported classic red lips for the Grace catwalk.

There are four overriding trends emerging. The first being classic black winged black liner. Be as bold or as delicate as you dare, this is a look that never dates.

The Viseart Longwear Black Eye Liner Gel is perfect. It’s waterproof and lasts for hours without smudging. You can even use your fingers to blend it into your eyelids as an eyeshadow. Another emerging trend for Autumn/Winter is the red lip. Like the black winged liner, this never dates. The trick is to find the right shade for you. The Daniel Sandler Micro-Bubble Lipstick in Micro Red is the dream lipstick. Both a colour and treatment in one, this contains beeswax, vitamins A, C &E and rose hip oil, amongst other soothing ingredients, as well as packing a powerful punch of colour.

The next emerging trend is blue winged liner. From cobalt to aqua, choose your shade and apply! The Eye of Horus Lazuli Blue Goddess Eye Pencil is a beautiful blue shade matching the shade worn by the Kenzo models perfectly. The final trend, and perhaps the most seen trend on the catwalks, is the bare lips trend. No lipstick necessary. But if your lips are on the dry side you’ll be wanting a slick of balm to keep them moisturised and soft. We stock great selection of brands and flavours so head over and take your pick. Just give them a gentle brush with an old soft toothbrush to get rid of dry flakes first.
